Re: Stryker and V Star 1300 question

Reason I am ask is, is I think I have found more exhaust options. I looked at some pictures of the vstar and everything looks the same. So I jumped on youtube and found a 1300 with a BUB exhaust and it sounded really good.

Re: Stryker and V Star 1300 question

I'm gonna roll out to my dealership and get an up close look at the V Star. Cause the more I look at it and the stryker I think some of the exhausts for the Vstar will work on the stryker.

Re: Stryker and V Star 1300 question

Oh I will. Cause surely some of these other pipes will work other than the Cobra Speedsters, Cobra slip on and the V&H 2 in to 2 big radiuses. Now dont get me wrong I like the look but I want to follow the Star slogon, of make it your own. Its kinda hard to make it my own when everyone has the same aftermarket or OEM pipes. LOL

I wouldn't 100% go by the dealership. I went to mine this past weekend asking about the V & H slash cut pipes and they told me that they required heavy modification to fit on the Stryker (even the ones made for the Stryker) including re-welding on the o2 bung.

If the V-star pipes fit then Cobra & Vance and Hines would have the same part number for both sets of pipes and there not, so something has to be different in the design. Email cobra or V&H and ask that the difference is, best place to start i would think.

May be something as simple as the bracket that mount the pipes to the rear of the bike and you can fab one.

Well I talked to my dealership a little while ago and they said that the V Star pipes wont work on the Stryker. I find it hard to believe since everything looks identical.
As much as I love the Dealership where I bought mine, I get the same thing. Occasionally I ask if I can take an accessory outside to see if it will fit and most times no problems. But once in a while I get the- "well lets look at the catalog and see if it will interchange". I will be the first to tell you that many parts interchange on these bikes.

Well when I compare part numbers they are the same except for the last number. I'm thinking so they can differentiate between different model bikes is the only thing I can think of. The closest set of pipes that I have found for the Stryker other than Cobra and V&H is Rush pipes( http://epiflex.com/stryker.html ) I found a youtube clip ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IWP8QhxoAI ) and they sound pretty good and they the only straight pips that i have seen on a Stryker and look good as well. But even though there are only 2 model years you would think there would be more options of aftermarket pipes.

I have yet to see another Stryker on the road besides mine, may just be supply and demand. Same reason only a handful of companies offer parts for these bikes.

Anyone priced the Drive belt for one yet....almost $800 dealer cost and $450 online cost.

Just worried about mine after i put the side plate on, now it sits a little far to the left looking from the rear and thought I would price them in case it gets damaged. If no one never needed one they wouldn't make them, someone has to be needing a belt sooner or later.

Only if it gets damaged or abused. Dealer here that has been around for 40 years says they have only replaced 1 belt and that was due to accident damage. they have seen bikes come through with over 50000 miles with no belt problems.

You got my curiosity up so i had to go look at the parts cataloge. WOW that is F'ing redonkulous!!!!!!!!!!!! This is my first drive belt bike last was shaft driven and the others were chain. For that price the **** thing should be able to last forever or take itself off and put it back on.

I agree when it comes to supply and demand. I have only seen one Stryker and one Raider in my area. But it if i were an aftermarket parts manufactuer, I would be open to customer feed back and make them more reasonablly priced due to the economy and why there are so many bikes on the road now days.

Are you guys referring to the belt that turns the rear wheel as being $800? The same belt that the manual says to replace every 2500 miles?

Or are we talking about a different drive belt, perhaps between the motor and transmission?

Check tension and adjust if necessary every 2500 miles. Replace if damaged.

I was reading my manual last night, and I was shocked to see it says "replace every 2500mi". Probably a typo or error in the book, but it defintely says replace in my manual.
If your owner's manual says that, it is indeed a typo. At the top of this forum is a link to the service manual download, and the service manual clearly states what I paraphrased.

I'll recheck my manual when I get off work, and I'll post a picture if it does indeed say replace. The chance exists that I'm just being retarded.

I'm curious where you guys are seeing $450-800 prices at though. When I saw 'replace every 2500', I googled some prices and I was seeing drive belts for a stock setup in the $99-150 range.
