I'm brand new to the site, and am not a Stryker owner yet... but as I am shopping around for the right one at the right price, I've noticed something.

It seems every Stryker I see listed for sale is sitting somewhere between 500 and 1500 miles. It is starting to concern me that owners buy their Strykers and only ride them for a short time before finding something they can't live with about the bike and put it up for sale. I'm currently riding a sport bike, and I've put nearly 5k miles on mine in 3 months... and that's on a bike that isn't comfortable enough to take on long rides.

Yeah, I am looking at bikes that've only been around one year... I guess I just figure if you owned a badass bike like the Stryker, it'd be let loose from the garage more often than that.

I'm guessing those of you still posting and reading the forums are happy with your bikes... I just can't figure out why so many 2011's are showing up with such low miles.

I think what you're probably seeing are bikes bought by folks that thought they wanted a bike only to find out once you leave the practice arena for the streets there is a lot more involved than driving around in circles. See it all the time, my local dealer tells me they buy back about 20% of the bikes they sell within 3 months, of course at a huge discount.

Alot of what your seeing is nobody is riding much this time of year and the bike is just sitting there. Another thing people don't have enough time like they thought they did, work, kids, ect

My Stryker was 1 month old when I bought it 17 months ago with very low miles. I was planning on buying a Kawasaki Concours 14 (& still might) when I saw a Stryker in the showroom. Once I sat on the Stryker I knew I was getting one. So many people buy bikes because they fall love with the idea of owning/riding a bike but it ends up being more than they can handle.

The guy I got my Stryker from bought it new then a month later traded it in on a new car, His loss my gain. I've been riding over 40 years & the Stryker is my favorite for overall ride, comfort & handling. I have my FZ1 if I want to play hard ;D

Hey Killian. I agree with what everyone else says. Try doing this. Look at another bike you may be interested in (something similar; Raider, Fury, Stateline, M109R, Vegas Jackpot, etc.) and then go around and price them. You'll probablly find the exact same thing.

This was really my only reservation when considering buying a bike - whether I would ride it enough to justify the expense. As it turned out, it was a good decision. Even on cold days, as long as it's dry, I ride.

I've seen many bikes, 5 - 10 years old, that were advertised with less than 1000 miles on them. Many.

lol you won't find my bike on that list of garage queens...got 13,500 miles on her 8)
I've had mine since April and have about 5700 on it.

Just think - own a bike for 10 years and it have less than 1k. That's just sad. :'(

If it helps, I bought my Stryker on Oct 31, 2010...I still have her, and she has now almost 11K miles. So, don't be discouraged, perhaps some of the bikes you looked at were what I consider impulse buys, and then later the person takes it back. Mine is a everyday ride, she is my method of transportation. But your choice, they are great bikes, and you will not be disappointed if you get one!!! :)

Wyntress is right, I bought my bike and convinced a friend to buy one too, he wasn't ready, he had a close call on the road and sold it back at a loss now he regrets it but he's still scared. There's a lot of people out there that think its for everyone. Cant ride scared.

There are so many variables involved it's hard to say what is low miles. Some are year round vs. winter, some use to commute vs. weekend, some have younger children involved in all kinds of activities etc.

I'm at home 24/7 and in a short Midwestern season put on 2800 miles but they were mostly silly miles:) A few times I used the bike to get something small but mostly I was just wasting time and gas enjoying the crap out of myself. Depending on how much time you have or if you use it to commute you'll rack up more/less miles.

That all said I know some people that ride so little I just **** my head and go WTF. If the stock market was more normal that 10-20K of wasted metal would net 1-2K/year which could certainly be used for better things...

I love my bike and like others have said: "Ride her like you stole her unless you did!"

Mine is fixin to roll over 30k. It doesn't sit idle long.

The wife's bikes, however, are a different story. I'm thinking I'll be selling them both soon, one with very few miles on it, the other I put about 10k on myself. Meh. Sometimes it just doesn't work out.

I agree with everyone. Those people either don't have the time or don't have the passion for riding. I bought mine half way through the 2011 riding season (April - October here in WI) and it now has just over 10K miles. I have yet to find anything that I truly don't like about the bike!

I hear you. I was looking and pricing the Victory Vagas Jackpot on both sides of the boarder. Nices bike I've ever seen. I just couldn't find the money for the payments. But one day I swear she will be mine. :)
