Looks sharp! Did you make it out for a ride today?

We went out for most of the day. The last hour we raced a storm to our backs. We thought we had some time so we did a quick stop at a local restaurant for the best shoo-fly pie around. Wouldn't you know we hit rain two miles from the house. Luckily we got in without being too wet. It was still was a nice day trip.

And before someone asks, shoo-fly pie is a molasses pie Pennsylvania Dutch desert. The pie is more like a coffee cake, with a gooey molasses bottom.

xarnthal - I see you don't live too far from me. The restaurant is called Scales. It is right on 74 on the left side where 74 hits 641 in Carlisle (at the triangle intersection). Their shoo-fly pie makes the ones we got in Lancaster (and everywhere else in the area) seem like the bottom of the barrel. Just ask for it warm with whip cream. The bottom molasses portion is really thick. It is awesome.

Shane - I can't say I ever heard of Apple Brown Betty. Is that a west coast item?
