So I went to install my new progressive springs. Removed my stock springs no problem, all is well. I go to cut the spacers annnnnnnnnd..... I manage to cut one 1/16" too short. So after some cussing I cut the provided spacer to the correct length and carry on my way. Left tube assembly goes back together just fine with a little work. Right side won't friggin start to thread. I get frustrated and keep trying instead of walk away... I slightly cross thread the bloody thing! So now I have to recover the threads without totally f'in up the entire tube assembly. As I struggle to recover from a near fatal mistake THWAP! I nearly cried as the sound I heard was my wrench smacking the tank, leaving a nice little dent/chip to remind me of my nightmare. :tsk:

I'm so pissed right now that I A) messed up the threading on the right fork, and B) dented / chipped my tank, but not only did I dent it, I dented it on the side that everyone sees when approaching it. I've done plenty of spring and fork oil replacements... can't believe I messed this up.

On a lighter note, my god how much of an improvement these springs are! I didn't get to test them too much since I'm on duty at work and cant leave, but I took it for a spin down the driveway and back and did some hard braking. Much better! If only I didn't damage my precious tank :mad::mad:

I does make it easier to thread if you loosen the 2 top pinch bolts on each side of the top triple tree. Also Threads are most likely ok in the tube which is Stainless steel. When you cross threaded the aluminum cap in, you just left some aluminum material in the fork threads. Threading those caps are a bugger and easier having someone hold cap down while you turn it in with wrench. Quite a bit of spring pressure to overcome. And should hold pressure down on cap while tightening down all the way.

Yeah, I was working on this at work. I have duty at my unit so I figured it was a good time to install them... I should have just waited, half the tools I needed were not here for some reason (likely someone borrowed and never returned them) so that already had me in the wrong frame of mind to work on the bike. Hopefully my shop can pop the dent, and color rite just made 75 bucks off me so I can repair the chip... fml
