Tomorrow I'm heading out for my longest ride ever........361 miles one way.....I'll leave when I wake, likely early.....returning.....Sunday, a quick stop over to visit family for a day.....Had to work so couldn't drive out with the family for the 4th....
The bike is packed and ready to rumble, pulled down a new bag for the essentials.....(I'm thinking anti-Toby method :p )

The trip will be from SJ to my old stomping grounds.....Ventura County......gonna go with 1 the entire way....and will likely stop numerous times and not only for gas.....I'll likely snap a few photos along the way.....

May swap out the solo for the stocker......For my every day ride the solo has been OK, but have only used it for about a 100 mi. or so........I'm a bit worried about my ass, my arms, and my back....but we'll see how comfortable she is for a long ride.....

Had the wife take an extra bag for me for clothes and such ;) .........

Awesome ride....ended up with 380 miles from home to end point. Big Sur was impressive and a pretty cool road, definetly a ride to check out. Followed the posted map. Bike handled perfectly. Although I'll likely need a new rear tire when I return, noticing wear, currently close to 6K on it.

Ended up going with the stock seat, ass was fine. Actually feeling pretty good now too.

Got my best gas mileage ever. Filled up 3 times. Stopped a couple other times for breaks and once for lunch.

1) 106mi - 2.35gal = 45mpg ( was surprised gage never came up but was worried since wasnt see gas stations so paid $5 a gallon in big sur)
2). 95mi 2.2gal = 43 mpg (Morro Bay)
3). 123mi 3.4gal 36mpg (was opening her up in this stretch - Goleta
324 miles - 7.95gal = 40.75mpg total

Additional 56 miles on tank to make total mileage for trip 380miles (total time for trip ~9hrs with stops)

Pulled the bag down at..... Sports Authority.....actually a bicycle bag, that I added some additional straps to. Had to get something to hold tools, water, etc....last minute temporary mod, for $10.

Not sure I'll be taking the same way home on Sunday I'll be leading the wife and kids in the car, so probably go 101, the 5 is probably faster but that would be one boring straight ride.....
The wife wants to take a quicker route, but maybe I'll find a way to swing thru Big Sur on the way back and still make it a shorter trip......the wife and kids would certainly enjoy the views....

Do you know the way to San Jose....Wo Wo Wo Wo Wo . OOps I got carried away. I have been on the Pac Coast Hwy north of San Fran but not south. Undeniably beautiful but slow because of traffic and curves. Probably take you a while to cover that distance and I hope you enjoy it. Be safe and post some pics if you can.

Nice! I lived down in SB for a long time, allways ripped through Goleta"The good land" also. You could blast over San Marcos pass, connect back to 101 in Los Olivos, and shoot straight up 101 or cut over to 5 in Paso and go up? 101 is usualy faster if your not too far inland?
