Teddy Bear run coming May 18 Posted: Wednesday, May 1, 2013 10:44 am
On Saturday, May 18, the second annual Kaufman County Hero Foundation Teddy Bear Run will be held.
The 90-mile motorcycle ride throughout Kaufman County will start at Lowe's Home Improvements off of Highway 80 in Forney and end at Forney Community Park, 317 FM 548.
There will be food and activities at the park.
All proceeds go to the Kaufman County Hero Foundation to help law enforcement officers, firemen and EMS personnel.
Cost is a stuffed animal and $15 a bike and $5 for passenger rider.
Registration will start at 9 a.m. with the ride beginning at 11 a.m.
After the ride there will be a silent auction. T-shirts supporting Kaufman County Hero Foundation will also be on sale for $15.
The ride will be police-escorted and those who have four-wheelers are invited to ride along, organizers said.
For more information, call Sue West at 214-866-9660 or Ed West at 972-551-3474.
This is the second year for the local Teddy Bear Run. The event was started, West said, to offer financial aide to local law enforcement and public service personnel when they might have a need and to provide stuffed animals for police and EMS to carry with them and give to children involved in accidents and emergencies.
