I've noticed it many times that when someone changes exhaust that the whats it sound like comes up. I was curious myself reading all the different posts. The past 2 days I changed from a 100% stock 2011 Raven Stryker and added Cobra FI2000 Powrpro, Vance & Hines Twin Slash Staggered exhaust, and Cobra PowrFlo intake. I was curious to see what difference in sound would actually be made. I found a decibel meter app (sound meter lite) and decided to conduct an experiment. I am by no means a scientist and would not consider a free download decible meter app on a phone to be a scientific instrument but I was surprised with the results. The first video clip is with no modifications to the bike at all. The second is after the Powrpro and exhaust were installed but before the intake was on. I did a test after the intake was on but found that the results were no different than the 2nd test. This was filmed inside my garage and I tried to keep conditions the same, door open, position of phone and distance from bike etc. I filmed it using a Toshiba Camileo H30 camcorder and the mic on this is terrible so Its tough to ear-ball the actual sound in the video. In the end Im very satisfied with the sound of the post mod bike and this experiment was just something to do in the process.

Going by the numbers on the phone app yes it was. Thats what surprised me

I wonder if the pitch makes any difference, ie the retarded high pitched sewing machine noise they make when stock. You can hear it clearly in the video.

With true equipment I believe the readings would be a little lower. The test you didn't do was to rev to a specific RPM. This is where you would find the DB to be higher with aftermarket.

I agree with the pitch issue and test to specific RPM, but no tach so even that would be best guess. Im sure true scientific equipment would produce much different results. Just something fun I thought I would do to post and contribute.

To the ear its louder at Idle, and not even close when some throttle is put to it, way louder now. The Junky microphone doesnt help the video much.
