I am kinda sorry that I never owned a sports bike because when I was young I had the body and reflexes that could have handled it, I think. Anyway, I bought the Stryker because it has the comfort of a "cruiser" with good accelleration and handling (at least for me). I guess what I was looking for was the performance of a sports bike with ergonomics that were kind to my aged back. But here's what I want to know....Many of you here have experienced the thrill of a sports bike whose performance surely exceeds the Stryker. Is not the Stryker somewhat of a letdown or disappointment when compared to a sports bike or are most of you who changed to the Stryker just ready to slow down a bit ? For those of you who have not yet come to terms with your mortality, aging is God's way of telling you to slow the pace. ;)

I got tired of all the tickets. The stryker is better for what I do now... just go cruise, take the Wife for a ride, The sport bike was better for what I used to do... Ride fast, carve canyons, and wheelie through every tunnel.

I had a sportbike and sold it to buy the Stryker. I must say that I was pleasantly surpised how much power it has and its good handling characteristics.

I have riden a couple of other cruisers and they did not compare to the Stryker.

Yes, it is no sportbike, but to me it is more of a sport cruiser.:D

I have a few riding options

I've put 90% of the miles on my Wife's bike. It's a 2009 Yamaha FZ1. You sit upride so much better for "old backs". 1000cc 150hp & 485lbs makes for a very fast ride. I've been north of 180mph on the FZ1 but it's very easy to ride at any speed.

Of all the bikes I've road the Stryker is the most enjoyable for me. Sportbikes are only fun going fast,

other than pegs scraping and a bit of a front-end wallow through deep, long turns, i find the stryker quite willing and able to ride aggressively. i know that i've surprised quite a few young sportsbike riders and even more harley queers by tearing away and keepin 'em at bay on mines

X2.. I find I can keep up with most sport bike riders I come across. I've had a few flag me over to see what I'm riding because cruisers shouldn't be able to hang with them. My sons love to ride behind me on evening rides due to the awsome spark show the pegs give off:D

You will be surprised what the Stryker will do if you push it. The one thing it wont do well is slower speed turns, unlike a sport bike it's a bit of a pig, or the supper fast acceleration that sport bikes with over 100 hp can do.

While I agree the FZ1 is fast, especially for my 115lbs butt, North of 180 is a faaaarrrrr stretch. I have an 07

Brother in law has a 08 with power mods that pump it up to 173 HP to the rear wheel, I think he said it tops out at 183 mph. I think to get any more than that you need to change the gear ratio not just HP.;)

While I agree the Stryker can get up and go when you want it, it absolutely can't hang with my '08 CBR 1000RR. That bike is just ridiculously fast and light.

...and after 2-3 hours of riding it, my back/hands/wrists are all tired, where I'm fine riding 5-6 hours on the Stryker with the occasional break to gas her up.

If you can keep up with sportbike riders, then you're not riding with very good riders or you're not riding in the twisties.

I love my Stryker, but it does not even come close to comparing to any of the sportbikes I own/ed (CBR 600, CBR 1000 and Ducati 848).

As you get older you realise just how short life really is. 50 years seem to have just gone by like that.:( Because its so short I'm not trying to end it any sooner by riding a bike that can get you killed. The Stryker seems just right to live my life as long as I can.

I have no wish on racing to the grave.:amen:

When it comes to pure performance…there simply isn’t a cruiser out there that will hang with a sportbike. That being said the Stryker is a very sporty cruiser. I've had a CBR600rr and a CBR929rr...Granted they were fun for going fast but they were uncomfortable as ****. In the first 6 months of owning my Stryker I put more miles on it than I did on both my sportbikes combined.

February of last I got ran off the road on my 636, bought a 2011 r6 and traded it in on a 2012 Stryker. I figured it was time to give my back a break. Not at all disappointed with the comfort. I just can drag knees anymore Lmao.

What year 636. I loved my '03. It just didn't love my butt. I was actually to keep both. But the more I rode the Stryker the less I looked forward to riding the sport bike.

I had a 2005 yamaha r6 for 6 years and complained everytime I got off about how uncomfortable it was. I started riding longer trips so I decided to buy the stryker and I am as comfortable as can be now. I do miss the power and knee dragging capabilities from the r6 though.
