Have any of you had a " ticking " from the exhaust when at a stop light? Sounds like the ticking that a car gets sometimes after you turn it off and it's hot. Is this normal? Am I hearing things?

I don't think so. It's not a constant tick. It's like the exhaust tick when a car is turned off when not.. it's a random tick or click..

Immortal's right. It is the noise from the ( believe it or not, cooling) of your exhaust. The pipes are expanding, because there not as hot with the load on them. When you shut down, the ticking will drive you nuts. Just walk away. ;D

I'm probably just crazy. Must just be the exhaust heating up. It does sound like the ticking, crackling, popping you get after you turn it off. Like hot exhaust. Just thought it was odd I could hear it when running. Definitely sounds like the exhaust though, I hear it from the right rear. This is the first bike I wear a half helmet on, and it is amazing how much more you can hear without a full helmet on. Thanks for all the replies, I am thinking about making a slip on pipe, I will see if that makes it go away. Might just be the Catalytic converter heating up..

Sounds like to need to check the nuts on the headers. depending on the ticking if its loud while riding you have a leak if its after you ride the pipes are cooling down. thats normal
It's not a leak, as it sounds like it's from back. Also, it is random, like it is the pipes cooling down, but it is when it is still running, at a stoplight. Maybe it is just that much cooler when idling compared to riding.

Mine snap and pop intermittently when I turn the bike off...never noticed it while riding, but I usually wear a full-face and ear plugs. I'll take her out in a bit and see if I notice anything.

I got a half helmet to wear for around town rides, and it is amazing how much more you hear when stopped. It is also amazing how little you can hear when moving. The wind is all you hear. I could hear the bike better when moving with a full face.

Ok. Just got back from a short ride sans helmet. Yes, I know it unsafe, but it was in the name of Science!. Anyway, I stayed in my neighborhood and just broke the speed limit -- I didn't take her on the freeway.

Yes, I hear the clicking. Not an alarming amount, but it's there...didn't sound abnormal though. It's as you describe. It's parked in front of me now, and its clicking like an 18th century morse code operator, but it's always done that. I don't think it's a problem. BTW, I'm still using stock pipes, but I plan to order the Vance and Hines 2 into 2 once they are competitively available. Hope this helps.

Thank you. Just caught me off guard that I could here it at stoplights. I think it is just the exhaust as well. I am going to be making a slip on, so maybe it will go away. It is probably the **** cat... those things get crazy hot. Thank you for you daring science experiment. Great people in here.

Ticking sound from exhaust could be a few different things. Sometimes exhausts could be leaking, a valve may need to be adjusted or stuck, oil dripping back into the pan, or metal expanding and contracting. I would recommend taking to the dealer and asking a technician. Can't hurt. I would also recommend after your warranty expires to learn how to adjust your own valves. It takes a while to do and can be tedious, but well worth it. In addition, most people don't realize that every time you remove your exhaust you must replace the gasket seals with new ones. Much like a crush washer on the oil plug, once used, it's permanently pressed to a specific fit. You may get lucky once or twice with a reuse, but it is often the culprit of most peoples complains of deceleration popping...but that's a different story.
