For those that have blacked out the parts, what's the preferred method of painting? Did you paint/Plati-dip both inside and out on the part?

I see some have used Plati-dip, but my understanding is that it might wear off (in time) where you contact the part with your leg. What was the process you applied it with? Cleaning, sanding, priming? or just clean and Plasti-dip? How's it holding up for those that have used it?

Obviously paint might be a better option for longevity. For those that did this route, what was the preparation like for it?

Anyone use powder coating?

Looking to go this route as well, I just want to weigh all the pros and cons and go with what makes the most sense.

I couldn't agree more.
I guess I just don't get it.
It's definitely a personal choice, nothing wrong with chrome. Chrome makes things "pop" and draw your attention.
My last bike had it's share of chrome on it. With this one, I was looking at going in a different direction. Probably to the point of blacking out the fins on the motor as well.

Chrome is overrated! Too many Hardleys sporting that already.

I have never been a fan of chrome and perfer the black over chrome but I have always been like that as far back as in the eighties, so for me it is not a fad just a personal choice.
