The weather is getting nice and I've read that some people use the car wash and some people use cleaning products like wizards, tutle wax, etc...
Since my bike has new paint and chrome and don't know if I really want to use the high pressure car wash to wash my bike and I'm thinking of alternative cleaning products like wizards or whatever, even chrome cleaners/polishers.
Any advice on products that at minimum can be bought online or at a auto parts store.

I like to use the spray quick detailers. They work really well. There are a number of brands out there. I am using a Turtle Wax one now. Meguiars has some good ones as does Mothers. I have yet to take a hose to my bike. Don't let it get too dirty, and the the spray detailers should work no problem. I also put on a coat of wax when I first got it. Again, any car was will do. I used a synthetic Meguiars wax.

Never use a pressure washer....water can get into places it's not suppose to. I use S100 - spray it on while the bike is dry and cool - let it soak in for 5 to 10 minutes then use a garden nozzle to hose off - you can use it on all surfaces - if you have a leaf blower blow the excess water off - wipe down with a micro fiber cloth - I go back over the bike with a spray on polish using a micro fiber cloth.
Also I never clean the bike the day before I want to ride....everytime I have it rains :D
If you have burnt on rubber or tar on the exhaust use 0000 grade Bronze wool it will take it right off and polish the chrome at the same time.

If the bike is not real dirty you can use All Purpose Windex

Deputy, my painter recommended the Wizards Mist & Shine. I have been using this and love it.

:scared:

If you use any sealants or wax on your paint, using something alcohol-based (such as glass cleaner/windex) or detergent based (such as Dawn dish liquid), you have taken the sealant/wax off of the paint, and you are at square one. Wiping down with a good quick detailer after a ride such as Griot's Garage Speed Shine is fine.

Wash the bike with a mild soap designed for car washing, such as Meg's Gold Class (at the minimum).

Use microfiber EVERYTHING when working on cleaning the bike.

After you wash, air dry with a leaf blower to get the water out of crevasses then dry with an MF towel.

I could go on all day, but I am a detailing nut and product snob

I posted a couple detailing topics when I first joined the forum. Check them out:

Maybe we could get a detailing subforum from the moderators????

Thanks for the help and informative information. On a sad note my dealership was replacing a fuel senor on my bike and some how put two nice big scratches in my fairing. I took pictures and spoke with the shop ower and they said they'll pay to have my painter repaint my fairing. I told the owner accidents happens and long as it got fixed properly that's all I ask. So its all good no hard feelings between me and the shop, its a good shop.

That really sucks, but at least they are going to make it right.

Chrome and metal polish is blue magic all the way. Tried the never dull once and never used it again. I use the cream and the key thing to remember is a little bit goes a long way and buff off thoroughly.

Tip: Do not use fabric softener when washing or drying your cleaning/polishing/drying towels. They create a film that actually reduces their drying capabilities and polishing power.

WHAT?

Forget all that! This is the way you do it! If they cant do the job right (dont expect them too). Get the 2 mexicans right beside them to do it! They will give you your bike back Show room Quality!
