Just took bike n for inspection. Purchased new in February 2011. Have 6700 miles.said it would not be much longer before I would need a new rear tire. Really! Thought I would get more out of it. I don't ride hard. No smoky burnouts or hard take off 's. Any feedback on other riders experience?

About average life. Some are getting more and some less! I've heard 3000 to 10000.

****. What are you guys riding on? Sand Paper! On my last bike I sold it after 5 years with the original tires still on it. I got over 30,000KM on that bike. The answer to your question is, "Depends on how and where you ride your bike" If you ride your bike like TOBY, on goat roads and packed weight, your lucky to get 5 miles. :) But if you ride on good roads, don't brake hard and try to burn out, you can get like me 30,000 plus. What I will say is, no matter how many miles you get on your tires, they should be changed after 5 years regardless. Tires will degrade just sitting there even with no mileage, because of sun and weather temp. Manufacturers recommend 5 year life of a tire, then change them. Of course if your looking for a excuse to get a 240 or 250 tire, tell the wife you only get 500 miles on the stock tire. ;D

lol. you hit the nail on the head there. Guess I should re-post a pic of my tire after 3,000 miles.

That's just it. I ride o good roads. No hard bracking. No hard acceleration (at least I don't think so) not even a single burnout. Its been some years since I rode last but I seem to remember more than 6k!

I upgraded to a 240 rear tire after 3K miles or so but my factory rear tire still looks newish. I will be listing it for sale soon with pics. Asking price will be $100 plus shipping. I never did any hard braking or burnouts.
