Any of you guys that have replaced your stock tire still have it laying around? I am just looking for how tall the stock tire is to compare to some of the other bigger tires. Please measure and post :p , That didnt sound right ;)
I have mine hanging on a backroom wall at my office Bozz, if you don't get it before the morning I'll get it for ya 1st thing in the morning
;D just went out to measure it for ya and NO bike. Just dropped it off at Rivco. ::)
My wife had to run by my office so I asked her to check it, she is saying roughly 8 7/8" wide by 24.5" tall, I'll double check in the morning and let you know if I come up with anything different
just came across this post, thanks Deja. i think i'm gonna look into the Avon 240

Thank you and your wife very much StykenShane.
Does any body have any idea how close the Metzeler 260/40/18 would be to fitting stock?
I believe you can get it on there but how safe would that be?
Yep, it will fit but would require serious nodding or complete removal of the belt guards

Removing top/bottom belt guards is one the first things I've done to my bike! Much cleaner...
I 'm really glad I found this thread on tires. It has enlightened me a lot. Should help me make a decision on which brand to get. But if anyone could tell me a little more about the differences. It appears to me that the Avon is more a racing stile of tire than Metzler. I already know Metzler holds up to more rug-id unmaintained roads than Bridgestone. But a race stile tire is designed for smoother surfaces. Please if any one knows more please correct me here. Because I have to get that Bridgestone off my bike before it wears out completely or causes me to wreck.
What ya think about the Elite III Dunlop.........I have always run Dunlops on my VTX and got 10-12000 miles. Elites are supposed to be better tires. ????

check with Schimbo on the Dunlop, I'm pretty sure that's what he runs
I'm running thr Dunlap Elite III, I only have 700 Ish on it so far, seems to be a good tire? No visable wear yet?

Straightjacket are you running the 240 or 250 radial? And I know Dunlop are a few 10th higher than the others but I can't find anything on width. Got any info there? And what did you do to make it fit? The sight says the 240 wont fit the Stryker?
I'm running the dunlop elite 3 240 on my bike and have around 1800 miles on it and it still looks new. It's a great all weather tire. The bike will stand about a half inch taller. I'm able to flick the bike back and forth alot easier then with the stock tire and the cornering traction feels alot more secure. The only thing needed to be done to make it fit is to trim the lower belt guard a quarter of a inch around where the tire is to it and thats it.
I'm running the 250. it's tight side to side but no problem in height. I sanded down the frame rails like sander did for a little extra clearance but it's still tight. When it's time for a new tire I'll do a 240, mainly for a better profile.
What do you guys think about Metzeler size 240/40R/18 for the Stryker? I am needing to replace my tires soon and I wanted to see if if my Stryker would handle better with this tire. Also I have on order the Progressive fork springs and the Progressive 465 rear shock for my Stryker. Does anyone have any info on this modifcation that I am about to make....Any info is greatly appreciated... 8)

I think you are the first to get fork springs. I was considering them also. I keep an eye out for your install and riding review.

For the past few years I have gone with Metzler on my other bikes and am leaning towards Metzler for the Stryker as well, probobly the 240. They have proven their self in ex stream conditions and 2 up fully packed riding.
