There have been issues with metzlers....lots of info out there on it and they don't stand behind their product.
Can you post links to that info. I have not heard or read any bad reviews on any Meztler tire and have had no problems with mine, YET. And nothing but good recommendations from bike shops even the V Twin High Performance Shop I go to in Redway. Is it a specific style of tire or bike that there is issues with? or? Would like to know because I have almost decided on Metzler for my Stryker as that is what I have used on my other 2 bikes for dozens of thousands of miles with no problems. Already had problems with Bridgestone wearing out and uneven wear on all 3 of my bikes. The Stryker being the worst on the rear tire wearing completely bald on the sides and little tread left in the center at only 3,000 miles. Don't want to spend $600.00 on tires for my Stryker only to find out they are defective.dejablu110 said:There have been issues with metzlers....lots of info out there on it and they don't stand behind their product.
My Father's Mez have worn big time in very little mileage. I'll be putting on Avon 240 when these Bridge wear out, If ever. These Bridge really are a good tiredejablu110 said:There have been issues with metzlers....lots of info out there on it and they don't stand behind their product.
24.6 according to Bridgestone's websiteBozzly said:Does anyone know the height of the stock 210 ?
My Life, I'm hoping that this thread and info helps us to make a decision when it comes time to put new tires on our Strykers. But the Stryker is just too new and there is not enough info and reviews and feedback out there yet to know which tires are the best for these bikes.MY said:My Father's Mez have worn big time in very little mileage. I haven't experienced it but have it on good authority it will rub. I just had mine lowered today with the PCS links all the way down and I went with the Avon. I found the Avon on ebay for $211 shipped. Had it in just a few days on my front porchskwerlee said:I was told that if you're running the Dunlop Elite 3 240/40/18 that the tire will rub on the underside of the fender with the PSC lowering links adjusted all the way down. Have any of you guys experienced this issue? If it’ll all clear than I’d rather save myself $50 and go with the Dunlop rather than the Avon 240.
Thanks Immortal. I'm thinking I'll go the Avon route as well. I found 1 on Ebay for less the $120 shipped and the local shop only charges $20 if i take the wheel off the bike and bring it to them to mount and balance. I also figured on installing the PCS links while the wheel is off...should be much easier I would think.immortal13 said:I haven't experienced it but have it on good authority it will rub. Hey Toby. The Mez were the tires my Dad had on when he bought his brand new Raider, two years ago. As for me I know its a little early with these Bridge stone's, but I can tell you that I had them on my Suzuki as well and I sold the 5 year old bike with the original tires still on them. 24,000km and still had a lot of thread left. I've said it before, but when I go to a 240 I'm leaning towards Avon or Prells.Toby said:My Life, I'm hoping that this thread and info helps us to make a decision when it comes time to put new tires on our Strykers. I know some of you guys are getting a lot more miles off Bridgestone tires than I have and I'm not sure why. I know my riding conditions are extreme compared to most and even though I am guilty of some really hard riding I am sure you guys are too. lol. But my experience is not unique. In fact like I have said before the tire shop guy said that he has seen Bridgestone with less than my 3,100 miles, 2,500 miles to be exact completely bald. Don't now what bike they were on or what conditions.
Wondering on what bike and what size tires your dad used?
Guys with Harley run Metzler. But most Harleys are lighter than our bikes.
The wrong size tire for the weight of the bike and riding conditions will promote faster wear.
Metzler has proven to get two times the miles as Bridgestone and Dunlop on the 500+ pound bike I have. But I have yet to put the miles on the heavier bike with Metzler on it to be able to say that yet. But I can say that about the Dunlop on the rear of the 600+ pound bike got little more than 4,000 miles. And the front Bridgestone about 6,000.
Still undecided which ones to put on my Stryker. Avon is a step up from Metzler. Also reading good reviews on Pirelli.
I know some of the guys with Raiders have put 240/40-18 Avon, Metzler and Dunlop on their bikes but I think Raiders are 70 pound heavier than ours so I don't now if that's something we can use for a good reference. I hope there is more info out there before I change mine.

Hey bode, you will not have any problems with the Metzler as long as you keep your dog bones a 1" drop. If you change that to the 2" inch drop you will definately rub with the Metzler! I know from personal experience with my stryker! If you ever plan on going to the two inch drop you must go with the Avon.bodie said:Thanks Stryker11...I ordered a Metz but after reading all the mixed reviews maybe i should of went with Avon..
That's really good info. That means a Avon 240 should not rub with the max load at 450lbs with 1" drop? But I love the 2.25" drop. Haven't tried a full load with the stock 210 with 2.25" drop yet. Waiting for things to dry up.StrykenShane said:Can't see as to where you would need to, I go 275 and the little woman about 130, dropped 1" with Avon 250 and no scrub
