Upgrading to a Stebel Nautilus Compact horn

I just got my Stebel Nautilus Compact in the mail, a definite must-have mod ever since I put one on my first street bike, a Ninja 250.

Anyway, got it in the mail and I've been trying to figure out where to put it. The stock location might work but I already think the stocker looks stupid there. Anyone got any ideas for spots I can try and put it when I (most likely) tackle this project tomorrow?

I agree that the WOLO seems pretty large and obtrusive, but I like it for what it is. We're not going to get that much sound from a horn as small as the stock one. Unfortunately, Yamaha didn't leave us a whole lot of open space to work with. Heck, I can barely fit my insurance card and registration under my seat!!! I've searched through ALOT of horns, even thinking outside the box and browsing through automotive applications. The biggest sound comes from the bigger horns, it's simply a matter of compromise. Has anyone considered the space below the front of the tank, at the part where the frame meets the fork (???) Sorry the verbage escapes me tonight. Anyway, that is where I was thinking for a dual install, with my only concern being my own hearing!!!!
Hi guys,
I have finally passed an order to get one of those baddies (Nautilus Compact Air Horn). I read that we should use an inline 20 amps fuse for this. The inline fuse comes on a 12 ga wire.

1. Did you guys use 12 or 14 ga wire?
2. If I use 14, can I still use the inline fuse delivered on 12 ga wire?

As you see I am not an electrician ;)

1. 14
2. You'll be fine. Crimp hard though.

*edit: I had the Stebel on my last bike. Still trying to figure out where to mount it on the Stryker. In case you were wondering how I knew ;)
Has anybody ANYWHERE ever successfully installed this Steibel Nautilus? Cause I am catching absolute hayle with it...this thing is huge and fits nowhere....

Yep....I have the WOLO Big Bad Max. It took me FOREVER to find a good spot. I finally mounted a P clamp on the left side radiator down tube and mounted the horn behind the radiator to the P clamp. I ran a bolt through the P clamp through the tab on the horn. It says not to mount horizontal, but I did anyway. I don't have pics, but picture mounting it with the air canister on the top, horn part on bottom, electrical connections facing in. Just high enough to get the oil cap off the motor. Hope that makes sense.

And I used the wiring harness that skwerlee just posted.

Thanks for responding back Bro! Yeah I ordered that harness at the same time that I bought the horn..I already knew the nightmare that could have been...lol

Thank you for the response..I was starting to think this site had died off....Actually, your description is very easy to envision! Have you run into any problems as far as performance, functionality, and/or heat resistance in that location? My bike gets plenty hot for this plastic cover they have on this horn....
Mounted my new wolo right above the radiator. Saw someone else on here did the same and decided to copy.

Man, That's sweet! Thanks for breaking out the camera on that one! I probably would have never thought of it. I just have to see if this Stebel will fit either in your configuration or in the config that Sledhead suggested. I gotta do something. Friggin MD state inspection trying to hold me hostage. I agree the stock horn was garbage to begin with, but my bike has passed inspection just fine in multiple states and even Guam.....I appreciate that assist all!
even Guam....
Guam?.... I was there for 2 1/2 yrs... Hafa day!

I've got the Stebel Nautilus as well... thinking about mounting to the frame or Linbar...

Think The Kuryakyn Magnum Quick Clamp or the P-Clamp may work... KY-1003 / KY-4023 ????

Just rechecked my previous orders with Cruiser Customizing and KY-4023 is exactly the P-Clamp I used to attach to the radiator down tube.
Hey Sledhead44 thanks for the confirmation that I was on the right track with how to mount the beast... do have to say that it is LOUD tho... !
The Nautilus was the very first mod I did to my bike. Any bike, actually. I don't rely on "loud pipes save lives."

I have pics of my install location on my build page:

http://www.yamahastarstryker.com/showthread.php?t=12962

I used P clamps around the frame on the right side, and used stock horn wires. Definitely DO NOT install it without the wiring harness or relay switch. I've installed 3 of these on every bike.

Well, 1 on each of 3 bikes... Not 3 on each bike. ;)

Hafa Adai, Friend! Do you miss Guam yet? Awesome riding weather...no down season! A b*tch to get stuff for your bike though...unless you don't mind paying 10X the markup. I was there for 3 years myself and really enjoyed it. So I am looking on Amazon and they actually offer this same clamp (4023) in multiple sizes. Which one did you go with? Or do you even remember? Thanks!
