V&H Twin Slash Staggered question...

I have a question for anyone who has the Twin Slash Stagered pipes o their bike; did you keep the pipe/foot guard (see pic below) or did you leave it off after installing the pipes? I’m having my pipes installed in a week and just wanted to know what you guys did. thanks
