So I'm pretty much set of getting the Vance and Hines twin slash staggered exhaust but I have a few concerns. One - the police. Yes, I know it's technically illegal but has anyone had any trouble with the police with these pipes? How much is the ticket? Two - I know the baffles can be removed, but can they be drilled like our stock baffles? Anyone done it? Three - how hard is the installation? One person job or do I need a friend? Four - exactly how loud are they? I've read on other forums that they're much louder than anticipated. They don't seem to be that loud from YouTube videos, and I know that it's just a video and can't really compare to the real thing, but how far off is the video?

Thanks guys I've really appreciated this forum and all the help!

Can't really speak to the Staggered pipes but I have the V&H Big Radius 2 in 2 and they're plenty loud. I've rolled by squad cars and haven't been dinged <knock on wood> I don't know what the precise decibel is but if I were to guess it'd be somewhere in the high 90's

I've rode the twin staggered for 2 months now, and no issues with police. They normally just wave at me. I only rode 3 weeks without baffles, and I was actually concerned for my morning neighbors and Popos.. Not sure on the ticket, but i'm almost certain it's over 100.

Removing the baffles is really easy, but there is no visible way to drill holes into the stock baffles(from the image in my head i'm not looking at them). It's a metal tubing with an end cap towards the center of the pipe. Then there is fiberglash cotton(?) helping noise and whistle sounds around the middle of the baffle.

I have the V&H twin slash staggered and love the sound!

1) No issues with cops so far and I have heard bikes with louder pipes so I think you should be ok!
2) They can not be drilled like the stock baffles
3) Installation was pretty simple. I could have done it by myself no problem but an extra set of hands never hurts so you dont scratch anything.
4) They are louder than the videos you see on youtube. It was alittle shocking actually as to how loud they are at first. What you dont hear in the video is when you crack on the throttle just how loud it actually can get. Normal riding isnt that much different than most bikes you hear with exhaust.

Hope this helps!

I have the V&H Twin Slash + full mods and it is quite loud, but you will not have any issues with police unless you draw their attention with fast/reckless action. Think how many HD bikes are on the road. Can’t stop them all for being loud.

That's a good point. And I'm a pretty sensible driver so I'm not terribly worried about it.
What do you mean by full mods?

Twin slash are 95 decibels and the 2 into 2 are 105 if I remember correctly. This is coming from V&H rep.
Not sure.. but I think thats backwards... I've been riding side by side another STRYKER with the Big Radious.... my twin slash were quite a bit louder.... The twin slash are true 2 into 2 pipes with no crossover...
