Just when I was getting ready to pull the trigger on the Cobra swept pipes I saw Phat performance listing Vance & Hines Twin Slash Staggered in black. It shows it as a pre-order, with no indication of a ship date. I went ahead and ordered them. I am supposed to recieve an email telling me expected ship dates. I guess if the wait time is too crazy I may back out and go with the Cobra's(I'm afflicted with impatience disorder).

So the question of the day is.. which one will sound better??? Cobra Sweeps or V&H twin slash staggered??? Also, I think you need to install sometype of fuel programmer for optimum performance. Which one would you use with the V&H?

Unfortunately there is really no way to really know. All the youtube videos in the world will never really give you the best example of sound/tone, so unless you have a real side by side comparison option, who can tell. V&H seems to get a little more praise than cobra, but personally I have no history with either. I ran hardkrome on my vstar 1100 and they kicked ass. As for the fuel programmer, I am going to hold off and see how the pipes do on their own. I have talked to several mechanics and they have told me that I shouldn't need one with just pipes. I have read all the debates on here about it. If there is a need for one I will make that decision at that time, but right now I can't afford to drop 400-600 up front based on others perceptions of "optimal" performance.

Here's my 2 cents ;D I would wait for the Vance and Hines. Everytime I speak to other riders who have put exhaust on their bikes, the honest ones who don't mind admitting they were wrong, say if they could do it again they would not have put Cobras on. I have never met one who says they wouldn't have put Vance and Hines on. That must tell you something. Also if you look at customizers, like OCC and others, if they don't construct their own exhaust they put on Vance and Hines. Just something to think about.

Oh ya. Unless your putting on a performance air intake, don't throw away your money on a fuel programmer. You don't need it on exhaust.

I had Cobra staggered on my Vstar 1100. And to be honest I never had a complaint out of them. However I never had a side by side with any V&H, so its really hard to get much out of my expierence. Cant miss what youve never had right? At this point, Im down to whoever will actually produce what I order. I dont have any particular brand loyalty to Cobra and I do like the "supposed" look to the V&H pipes. If they release soon and I can get them before the Cobra swept, I may very well jump on it. (assuming I get the dealer to jump through hoops for me. :p )

well that's easy V&H would win the sound competition every time.... and the V&H FUELPAK you would receive the better performance they really go the extra mile to make your bike look and run awesome.....

Keep us posted on the proposed delivery date i really want a set of black V&H 8)

I just received an email from Phat Performance. They said there is a backorder on these pipes of 3+ weeks. They asked me to respond if I wanted to keep my order open and wait. I guess I will wait it out and hope that it is on the good side of 3+.

Well I already added my 2 cents, but I just found another penny. ;D I'd still wait. I don't want to be riding my bike next year and see someone with the exhaust I want and go "DAMM" :( I'm waiting also, but in another way. The exhaust I want is a Vance and Hines, but they don't make it for the Stryker. They make it for a few Harleys. SO I am going to wait and see what happens next season and if still no, then look at buying it and having someone make it fit. ;D

So I emailed Phat performance to see if there was any update. Now they are saying mid-August before these pipes are available. I would switch to something else (cobra swepts etc.)but there seems to be nothing available at all right now.

Yeah, this is one of the down sides to being the new kid on the block. VERY few others like you, but a delay in our after market goodies. For all of the compliments that have been thrown around at the stryker... Id say its worth it. ;D
