Vance & Hines Twin Slash Staggered

Just when I was getting ready to pull the trigger on the Cobra swept pipes I saw Phat performance listing Vance & Hines Twin Slash Staggered in black. It shows it as a pre-order, with no indication of a ship date. I went ahead and ordered them. I am supposed to recieve an email telling me expected ship dates. I guess if the wait time is too crazy I may back out and go with the Cobra's(I'm afflicted with impatience disorder).

No Craig, my bike is not lowered, it has the stock suspension. I drag the footpegs in turns sometimes so I doubt I will change the clearance. Regarding the V&H pipes I got the mods done and you can see pics at the thread I posted earlier today: http://www.yamahastarstryker.com/index.php/topic,3573.0.html "Stryker on the Dyno"
Sdsting, thanks. Very good writeup on the mods and performance.
Put my V&H twin slash on last night and could not be happier. Louder than I anticipated, it sounds downright MEAN.

Seriously it does. And it doesn’t sound Harley Davidson-slow loud, it sounds superbike loud. Has that crisp-clean scream to it. On that note, if we happened to get cited by CHP (I’m in Cal) does anybody know what the ticket is? do you pay the fine and move on or is it a “fix-it ticket” that you have to get fixed? That wouldn’t be an easy fix. Anyone know someone who’s been cited for loud pipes?

I haven't been cited but I just looked up our vehicle code and the fine for the first time is $50-$100 and requires revision (fix-it-ticket).
I know that the V&H pipes are great quality, sound good, and add performance. I just think the Cobra Swepts look like they fit the bike better....like everything on here - pure opinion.
Boy I couldn’t dissagre more. But it’s nice to have choices isn’t it!
Hard Krome looks like they put out a great set of pipes. The Raider look is really sweet. No Stryker stuff though.
I suppose I can finally contribute a bit here.

I just installed my Vance and Hines Twin Slash Staggered and I could not be happier. I have the Cobra FI2000 PowerPro auto-tuner and it runs wonderfully.

Now my buddy, who happens to also have a Stryker, decided to go Cobra Swepts. I can't comment to the performance, and looks are opinionated, but I can comment on the sound.

The V&H pipes are definitely louder, but the Swepts have a bit of a deeper voice. I will try to get a side by side comparison video when the rain stops if anyone is interested.
If you are going to do that don’t run the bikes side-by side at the same time or it will be one solid level of noise on the video. Record them seperately and then run the 2 clips back-to back on the video you post
Does anyone on here know if the VH Twin Slash Staggered pipes fit a 2013 Stryker? I would like to place an order on them as soon as I know they do. Phat Performance has a really good price on them right now.

Yep, lots of us have them.

I just put on the V&H Twin Staggered too and **** yes it sounds way mean now. I also bought the Cobra FI2000 PowerPro Auto-Tuner but it doesn't work. I have to return to Cobra for an exchange the apparently the only guy who does the warranty for the autotuner is on vacation so nothing can get done until he's back. Crazy... I can't wait, I really hope it works as advertised. The pipes are better than I anticipated though for sure. Looks and sound!!!

Try reading on several threads and see how several people have problems with that combo of pipes and tuner. There are a few who are just fine

Unfortunately there is really no way to really know. All the youtube videos in the world will never really give you the best example of sound/tone, so unless you have a real side by side comparison option, who can tell. V&H seems to get a little more praise than cobra, but personally I have no history with either. I ran hardkrome on my vstar 1100 and they kicked ass. As for the fuel programmer, I am going to hold off and see how the pipes do on their own. I have talked to several mechanics and they have told me that I shouldn't need one with just pipes. I have read all the debates on here about it. If there is a need for one I will make that decision at that time, but right now I can't afford to drop 400-600 up front based on others perceptions of "optimal" performance.
There are new updated youtube vids. I personally went with V&H Twin/Staggered and am VERY happy with how cool it sounds.

I love my V&H twin slash staggered. Here is a video of a ride with them. http://youtu.be/SIjvV7CjbH8
Definitely need a tuner of some sort. The Cobra FI2000 ProPower AT I ordered was DOA and with the twin staggered pipes and stock air filter, it runs like crap. Waiting for the replacement tuner before I ride I guess :(
