I don't know if normal and just didn't notice it before but I just noticed a vibration when coasting. It feels like it goes away when I'm on the throttle. I'll have to check if it does it at idle, I can't remember at this time. It feels and sounds almost like a bearing going out not a metal on metal scraping but more of a buzzing feeling if that makes any sense. I'm going to call for an appointment for it, but just wanted to see if anyone else noticed anything like it. The drive belt doesn't seem loose but without right equipment I may not have been putting enough pressure on it either. It does have just under 5,000 miles on it. I just hope it's the fact that the new bike excitement is just over and not something major.

I may have the same thing. Started after changing my rear tire. I am pretty sure it's the belt is too tight. Tightened using a tension guage and per spec (5-7 mm or 1.5 notches on the Swing Arm). but that was with the rear elevated. I think it tightens up a little when on the ground. I adjusted it Sunday and thought I had it 'cause it seemed to go away on the test ride. Yesterday, it came back when I rode my bike into work.

The belt slack was real loose from the factory but I had no issue with noise. I am thinking that the belt likes to be a little looser than spec.

Found that exact thing with mine as Mike697 found with his belt tension.

Was wondering the same thing granted no gauge but just using a finger or two it felt pretty tight, I might have to add to my post that when I first really noticed it was after I lost the earpiece to ear buds so maybe always there just didn't notice with the noise blocking of the ear piece...... **** I hope so

Update...... I'm assuming it's the belt being too tight like some had said. Started the bike and then put into gear and no noise, so the noise seems to only be coasting either in gear or not and when it's at that perfect spot where you are giving enough throttle to keep speed but no real torque/pressure on the belt.

Exactly my case. I hear the noise when coasting only, under torque with throttle - no noise. I'm gonna losen it up some more tonight and ride into work tomorrow and report back here.

Loosened my belt up a half notch on the swing arm graduations, then before tightening the axle nut, elevated the rear tire using my jack and started the bike, put into first gear and let out the clutch - spinning the rear wheel - to let the tire and belt self- align (just idle, no torque on the belt).

Shut the bike down, lowered and tightened the axle nut. Noise is gone and the bike is riding fine now. The belt tension shows to be about 10 mm (2 graduation marks) using a 10 lb tension guage.

So, the belt likes to be a little loose I guess. or perhaps it was the alignment. But this cured the issue with me.

Took the bike in just in case type of thing. Head mechanic took it for a ride then told me the same as on here that the belt does like to be on the loose side and everything is normal, but he did say the belt is suppose to ride along on the outside edge of the rear pulley
