I've been staring at my radiator for weeks and I still haven't figured out my move here. I really want to upgrade the look of the cover, but I just can't drop $300 for the L&M cover (no screen?). I actually dig their cover a lot and probably won't be able to fab something I like as much, but I just can't do it. Window dressing simply can't cost significantly more than say a rear tire for example.

Anyways, I think that it would be fairly easy to frame and screen something decent, but I really like the look of the chin on the L&M cover. I'm looking at videos on YouTube about laying fiberglass and welding just to see what I can do to put something similar together myself. When the mod involves you learning an entire new skill before you can work on the thing, you're either desperate, mod crazy, on a budget or all of the above (me ;)).

So, has anybody else been kicking this around? Better yet, anyone got a good idea or three?

Fujums, I am right with you. Love the L&M Chin but could probably never bring myself to spend that much on it. Unfortunately when it comes to these mods, all I can be is a cheer leader. I cannot fab a thing unless you want it out of paper mache. Now a group buy, that may just work out... ;)

I'm planning on fabbing my own at some point but probably not until winter time. As it is... I'd rather ride mine than work on it.

I agree on the L&M pricing. Nice looking product but really... it's a fiberglass radiator cover. It costs maybe... $10 in materials. ****, you can get COMPLETE sets of fiberglass track fairings for sport bikes, a lot more detailed in the molds and more material than the L&M scoop, for the same price as what they're charging. If that's how much they value their customers, enough to rip them wide open, I wouldn't do business with them anyway.

So how exactly will this group buy work? Do we have to have an order in by a certain date with everyone committing at the same time? Or is it just a special price for the whole month of September? Group buiy is a whole new concept to me.

Thanks!

Usually how a group buy works is:
1. Company will outline group buy criteria: price of item and how many must sell to get it at that price, Time frame group buy will be open
2. Then people will place orders
3. If they reach the number they need to offer the group buy they will process the orders and ship and offer the group buy till the time runs out.
