I just did my 1st month's service and used 10w 40 on my motorcycle. Now it seems on a fresh start up I can hear a clicking noise.. just a little tink tink tink. I drove less than 5 miles to get the bike warmed up, then when i'm idle i no longer hear it. Any thoughts?

Should i drain the oil and use a thicker oil? Should i be concerned?

I swore i saw a video of my exact problem on Youtube about a year ago... but couldn't find it.

No thoughts on the noise, a little valve lash issue perhaps.. What kind of 10w-40 oil did you use? I hope it was Motorcycle stuff ;)
Because our bikes are liquid cooled the 10w-40 works great. There seems to be more issues when people use the thicker stuff.

Yeah motorcycle oil. I'll keep an eye on it, and if it's only doing it when cold.. ..

they all do it this was discussed over a year ago came to the conclusion that its something with the fuel pump staying primed at idle or something along that line. Its nothing to do with the motor because it stops when you rev the motor.

It's just more noticable after an oil change? I never heard this clicking noise until after the first oil change, and the members in that video are saying it's - "I had the same ticking on my stryker at only 600miles bring it into the yamaha dealer should be covered under warranty, they ajusted my valves at no cost to me and no more ticking...."

This has gotten worse after about 50 miles this weekend. I'm going to take it into the dealer today, to see if they can hear it / fix it.

Well just my luck, the sound wouldn't happen for the tech. It's seemingly random outcome that makes it tick during idle. Maybe it is working itself out, and/or maybe it's just like another user said and it's normal for strykers' to do this.

I guess I'll live with it, unless it gets severe enough that I can reproduce it 100%.

Sorry for the non informative outcome guys/gals.

Mine did that too, and little things like that really annoy me. It did it like crazy when I bought it last summer, and I have only heard it once since then and that was a few weeks ago. The engine sounds like a giant sewing machine while running down the highway anyways so I aint too worried about it. ;)

After market exhaust makes both of those pills easier to swallow lol.
