when I was looking for my first motorcycle last year I sat on this one and was really impressed but the harley dealer salesman didn't recommended it to me because it was going to be my first bike... He told me I was going to probably kill myself on it... needless to say I got an used suzuki s40 (650cc) and I did crashed on it due to inexperience. This year I traded it for the stryker and so far I've put 2000 miles and riding almost every day... I don't think I'd trade this bike... Love it

I love the look of the Vrod and I think it's a great short riding bike but my buddies that have them tell me they are not for distant riding
Ya it's a Harley, just another bar hopping hey look at me bike. Just my opinion. But I might own one some day so I can say, hey look at me.lol. But wait, I already own more than one bike that I can say hey look at me and they look better than most Harleys ??? and be comfortable riding long distances with a passenger. ::) I'd rather be able to say hey lets go for a fun long ride anyway..Wow sounds like I'm bashing Harley s Not really, they have their place. ;)

I don't even think the HD dealers claim it is much of a long distance rider or good handler. It is a straight line bike.

True Harley guys HATE the V-Rod. Water-cooled and not classic enough looking, I guess. I mentioned it in my MSF class at the HD dealer and the comments went on for 3 days. To me, it is the only interesting looking bike they make....the only one I'd own, for sure.

Well I'm not really a HD basher, I love some of their bikes, I chose the Stryker as I wanted to e different from everybody else I know and I've never liked the way many, not all, HD riders look down their noses at the rest of us

A freind of mine has one, and he can't go for more that a 3 hour ride without complaining about his back, hip flexers ans shoulders.. The bike does look good, and it is fast, but you can't compare it to the versitility of the Stryker.

Hey brother,

Can you give a complete report, comparing the stryker to the VROD. I am also highly considering doing the same trade. Can you compare the following:
1) Handling
2) acceleration
3) Around town riding
4) Hwy riding
5) Gas mileage
6) comfort
7) Ability to mod

Thanks man,

Well, I would call you a traitor, but I like the v-rod myself. Haven't ridden one but the reviews I've read say it doesn't handle particularily well. I would classify it in the same category as the Stryker, though I think the Stryker has more sex appeal. Kind of like my body...170 lbs. of raw steel & sex appeal.

I loved.my stryker but their is no comparison this wins in every department besides comfort. But i rode both bikes 350 miles and neither were that great. V ROD has an unusual riding position but you have less wind and you get use to it. I am over all satisfied with my trade.
