This may seem weird to some, but I like the pipes. Yeah, the bike has a whine instead of a rumble but it has a short stroke and overhead cam and it's water cooled so it is inherently quieter. I've had more compliments on this bike than any other I've ever had. People at stop lights ask me questions about the bike or give me the "thumbs up". So far no one has waved at me with their middle finger. That is a GOOD sign.

I love the pipes! I have to agree with you!

After thinking about it the only flaw I think is the bubble to check the oil. It is located on the left side in a position which is difficult for one to check. This is the only thing I am really upset about. :(

Cheesy a$$ horn = flaw replaced mine with a PIAAA duel Slimline
Oil sight bubble = seriously lacking especially with the 45 degree slant while on the kickstand
Kickstand = flaw WTF! down here in the sunny south you run across a lot of thin melty asphalt in parking lots, I've left a few divots where the stand was startin' to sink in. The wild angle puts more weight to bear on the stand, just a poor design.

. . . . . . a parking puck from Cycle Gear is now in my bag works like a champ.

The pipes I don't mind, visually it was one of the things that first caught my eye, I wish the sound was better, but a drill can help that a little.
First gear drive-train engagement CLUNK! = disappointing WTF Yamaha you can do better. I am used to it now, the stuttering at low speeds between gears is offset by learning to use the clutch appropriately. But that 1st CLUNK is definitely tacky.

I have to agree with everyone this bike is beautiful, and I have not saw another one yet on the road yet. I do also get a lot of looks and thumbs up. I experienced the lag but am getting used to it. I do like the pipes and actually like the mirrors. I have removed the ugly duck tail and got a side mount plate. Dont like the chrome on my Raven but plan on fixing that. Overall this for me is my third bike and I think they hit the nail on the head. Stock is fine, but we all know when we get a new bike we are going to mod a few things to make ours unicque. Way to go Yamaha, thanks for a great bike.

I really wish it had a tach..... it gets choppy coming off a turn or something, getting back on the gas, and having it bog down, and having to drop a gear...

The backrest they have for the passengers are not that great. The ones they made for the Raider I like, also the swing arm on the V-Star 1300 looks better.
I wonder if Yamaha was trying to keep up with Honda’s Fury, to try and capture some of the market.
They could have put the indicators somewhere else so we could have a choice of handlebars.
They could have come up with a variable height windshield also. I am 6’5” and 250 lbs and I ended up buying a 24” tall and a 25” wide touring windshield from and v-star 1100.

I was beginning to think that the CLUNK in first was something that was wrong with my bike.....was actually thinking of taking it in for service till I read your post.......Is this normal for everyone else's strykers? Can this be fixed by adjusting clutch?

Clunking is Normal. Does get alittle better with time and mileage, but still there on mine with 4000 miles on initial shift down to 1st.

On the plus side, there is no doubt when you shift into first. My old Harley shovelhead is not quite as clunky though. I did think it was rough till I got the Stryker. The rest of the shifts are much smoother, however.
