Hello, I'm the national merchandiser for the Virago Star Owners Club UK. The first Stryker has finally arrived in the UK and is owned by one of our members, Strykerjan. This will be on display at our first rally in May and at last we'll all get to see what they look like in the flesh.

I need to write a potted history of them to date, to accompany it and so far all that I've been able to glean from the Star web site is this.

They were first announced in sept 2010 as "New for 2011" and available from late sept onwards. There would be one model in three colours, black, red and blue. The following sept the blue one was discontinued and a copper one introduced. So far so good and all that most of us need to know (well along with the price tag!).

However, looking through the gallery photos some have blacked out exhausts, wheels and forks yet others are all chromed. As there is no standard and S model as with the Raider, which variant is considered standard? Is it black with the option to substitute some components for chrome or the other way around?

Here's what I know: in 2011 the three colors were basically blue (copper), red , Raven. Raven has black rims, forks, black exhaust, black engine, but has chorme covers etc.

in 2012 they had the red, and copper, but the raven is now black. The black stryker has chrome rims and exhaust to my knowledge stock.

Good evening America,

Thanks for your replies but its those galleries that are causing the confusion!
Because these bikes aren't available in the UK we can't just go into a dealership and look at them or ask a salesman what the options are. All we can do is look at your web sites and guess at what we could have if we imported it!

For 2011 they list three colours, Raven, Reddish Copper and Impact Blue. in the gallery they show the Raven with black exhaust, forks and wheels. Reddish Copper has chrome exhaust and forks but black wheels, Impact Blue is all chrome.

For 2012 they list Raven, Reddish Copper and Cherry Red. In the gallery Raven now has chrome exhaust, forks and wheels. Reddish Copper is now all black and Cherry Red is all chrome until you look further along and the wheels are changed to black and the final photos show it with a black exhaust, forks and wheels.

When the original buyer goes into the dealership and orders his new Stryker do they get to choose which finish they want on the exhaust, forks and wheels?

Yamaha don't give us such luxuries over here, all we get are three basic 950, 1300 and 1900 Midnight Stars, mostly in black and now and again someone gets lucky and they get a red one.....but only if its a 1300!

These are the options available to you for the 2011 & 2012. You don't have the option to choose the colors for the wheels, exhaust, etc.; however, I do know of a few people asked the dealership to change out the wheels and exhaust. Some dealerships were willing while other were not.

Thanks Venjurak, thats the conclusion that I was drawing until I saw the Cherry red one in three different guises.

I think I'll stick to mentioning the basic colour schemes and just leave out the bit about the black/chrome packages as I'm not sure which goes with which. Jan's Stryker won't be on show until our first rally in May so there's plenty of time to dig further into this.

Incidently there is now another one appeared on Ebay, it's due to arrive in the UK in March. It's Raven with a black exhaust, forks and wheel package

That one is still in USA and won't be shipped until someone puts a deposit down. The seller is testing the water and I can't believe he has had no takers. Everyone should get one. Treat yourself Bob, you know you wanna ;)
