Hello fellow Stryker riders, I'm new to the cruiser scene with a 2011 raven Stryker and loving the ride. Looking for the best seat option. Can anyone who has a solo seat with back rest share with me their experience with them?

Here is a quote from another forum where i found a review...this was the seat mounted on a Honda VTX

Actually have a bunch of good news on the seat itself. It really drops you down from the stock position. If you can picture looking at the side of your bike, follow the line of the gas tank down. With the stock seat once you get to the point of where the tank meets the seat the line starts to flatten out. With the new seat this line continues straight at the same angle as the tank until you reach the bucket of the seat. Great look and like I said it really drops you down. I think it pushes you a bit forward about an inch or so but it's hard to tell. The drop in height is the most noticeable. The back portion of the seat kind of looks a bit big but I'm sure I'll get use to it.

I put about 300 miles on it over the weekend. About two thirds of this on the highway. Now let me backtrack a bit here. Since I got the bike at the end of March I've put on about 4k miles. Most of them have been painful. I always wear a brain bucket and the head buffeting was terrible. Ended up taking the 19" Memphis Shades windshield off. It was really too low for me but it came with the bike when I bought it. This solved the buffeting problem but brought on the other problems associated with running with no shield. So when I put the new seat on I decided to put the shield back on as well. Most of the buffeting is now gone. I say most because I'm still getting use to riding at highway speeds. Trying to figure out if the issues I've got now are buffeting or just wind related. I think it's mostly wind related. Haven't owned a bike in 20 years so you can say I've only been riding for about three months. Still trying to get for the feel for what's what.

The way the back part comes up gives you a lot of support. I really notice it on acceleration. Use to feel like I was getting thrown into the 'backseat'. No more. Good support at cursing speed also. Got to say that at this point I don't think there's even a need for the optional backrest. If I had to say one negative thing about it that would be the height of the back hits me about the belt line. Really got to hike the jeans up to get the belt over the top of the back. Even then my jeans have a horizontal seam about 2 inches below the bottom of the belt line. This is a bit bothersome but you forget about it after a while. Not real crazy about the BIG Parts Unlimited label sewn into the seam on the right side.

All in all it's a great seat at a great price. Would I do it all over again? Yes.
And here are the pics of the seat on the bike, plan on ordering me one in the next two weeks hopefully.

I bought the parts unlimited solo seat with backrest. I've put about 300mi on it. I've liked it. NO break in period. I first tried the Mustang 3 piece. Which can easily convert from a 2 to a solo seat. It pushes you forward and up. I almost felt like I was sitting on the tank. It also has a break in period. My back felt great, but, my butt hurt after around 50-100mi. Felt like I was sitting on a wallet in each pocket. If the parts unlimited didn't work I was going to try the corbin. But, I'm happy. A lot of people on here talk up the Mustang seat. It wasn't for me. But, everyone's different.

Yea I was looking for a seat that didn't push me forward and was lower than stock. Have been emailing them about these seats and they said it wouldn't so either. Good to see from someone who has one that it's true.

Is the actual seat without backrest as high as the factory seat in the back, or higher. Debating on the solo with backrest and the low profile that doesn't have a backrest option but sits lower.

Also in all the pics it shows no rear seat bracket showing, does it cover these? Can you post up a couple pics of it as well, would like to see it on a Stryker.

Hey minibob thanks for info on the seat. Do you have some pictures of the parts unlimited seat with back rest? Does it provide more back support without the back rest option than the stock seat?

I think it would provide more back support than the stock one. I haven't rode without the back rest yet. I'm waiting to attach a bag to put it in and take it out if my back starts to bug me.

It's been awhile since I've used my stock seat now. But I think I sit about the same height wise. It pushes you a little forward. Overall it's a more comfortable feel then the mustang.

I think I'll have to put the seats side by side to get a comparison. I think the unlimited seat has more padding toward the back that pushes you forward. But definitely not as noticeable as the mustang.

Decided to go with the low profile solo they offer, the solo with backrest didn't flow with the bike like the low profile. won't be able to order it til the end of the month though, every place I've found that offers them are sold out atm on the stitched one.
