Wow, tough question, I guess for me I fell in love with riding over 35 years ago & I just love the feeling of the open road, I rarely ride in town, can't stand red lights. Oh, I also love meeting new people and I've met more people out riding than anywhere

I've wanted to ride a motorcycle for as long as I can remember. It started so long ago that I don't remember what it was that attracted me to it. I guess it's the freedom and the fact that you ride a motorcycle and drive a car. You have to be so much more involved in the act of riding a motorcycle.

I am a fairly new rider and I have realized that for me it is that more of my senses are engaged. The biggest differences being the smells. I can smell the fresh cut grass or someone grilling. Of course there are the negative smells...mostly the canals on the southwest side of Chicago always smell pretty offensive to me as I ride over them. I also enjoy feeling the wind and hearing the bike as I accelerate. All the senses add up together to create a much fuller experience for me.

Ok!!!! So on a serious note, The reason/s I ride would probably be that feeling of freedom, the connection of a brotherhood from even those you do not know.(Like this forum for example). It's one of the best stress relieving tools man has invented in my opinion as oneself has to practically forget and open your mind to your immediate surroundings to forsee near future happenings..(especially with city/in town driving). But the flip side of riding which I love and may be the same for adrenalin seekers like myself is.. the uncertainty, the almost inevitability that something will eventually go wrong/happen!!

Drive it like u stole it ..But be sure to bring it back the way u left with it..

I originally wanted to start riding because it looked fun and it's economical. I keep riding today because there's something I love about being exposed to the elements watching the pavement fly beneath my feet. Not being behind glass and steel, I can experience the environment 100fold. I smell flora better, the food shops and even the cute girl in the car in front of me ;)

I started riding last year, on a whim my brother asked me to take the class with him. The 1st class, i fell in love with the entire concept. I love being on 2 wheels, getting looks from strangers thinking how amazing the bike is and wishing they could do what we are able to. Riding isn't easy, and it's dangerous, and i feel like i've found a good balance between both to be a good rider. I love the long trips or even the casual cruises with my wife and I. It is really a bonding experience between us both, and something we now share.

I plan to be a rider the rest of my life.

My wife is the one that wanted to start riding. Her dad raced motorcycles when he was young, but they wouldn't allow her to get her license. When we got together I'm the one that said no just because of all the wacko's on the road. After a dozen years or so, I finally gave in and looked into getting her a riding class for her birthday. I found out about the free motorcycle training class in PA so we both took it. After that we both fell in love with it. We also scuba dive, ride horses and have a few old stand up Kawasaki jet ski's. So I think it is an additional adrenaline rush for us as well. We're looking forward to taking some long trips and seeing the country.

I've only been riding for about 15 months, but I got into it for the sake of economics. Little did I realize how much I would enjoy it. I know this has been said but I like that all my senses are at work and I am more observant of my surroundings. Finally, for some reason the countryside sure looks more beautiful on a bike instead of behind a car windshield.

What everyone else has said, plus I want to add the feeling you get when you become one with the machine and you float effortlessly through the lands like you are running but without getting tired and your sense of awareness is at a heightened level that only other bikers can know how it feels to experience these feelings you get when seeing the world this way.

I have wanted to ride for a long time. When I was married, my wife always said no, it was too dangerous. She ended up leaving me for some punk who thought he was cool, and the president of some stupid bike gang.. Kind of ironic. Anyway, after the divorce, I went an bought a dual sport, then got my license. That was almost 3 years ago. Just got my Stryker a few weeks ago, and love it. The feeling you get when riding is amazing. So comfortable.. powerful... and fast enough.. When I ride to work in the morning... I feel like I did something before work. Like I experienced something. When I take my car.. I just feel like I drove to work.. Not the same at all..

Rode a little when I was in my 20's, but never had a license and never went on the highway. Mostly just getting the feel of it in a private gated housing area. Then 2 years ago, I think it was a mid life crisis ;D; the hubby and I decided to get our license and get bikes. He road for many years before we met so it wasn't new to him. We love riding and the best part is, I am not on the back I am riding myself. 8)

I actually started riding a bicycle to work 4 1/2 yrs ago. I soon realized my knees weren't up to the task, so we bought a 50 cc scooter. Hubby then decided he wanted a 250 cc bike to relearn on because it had been 20 yrs since he'd had a bike. He rode the 250 for 6 weeks and decided he was ready for an 800 cc bike. Soooo, I thought, what the heck, lets give the 250 a try. I took the 250 over, we sold the scooter. Less than a year later we decided that the 250 couldn't keep up, and hubby wanted an 1800 cc, so we traded the 250 in, he got his 1800, I took his 800. Then 3 months ago we decided the 800 wasn't big enough for me, so I traded her in on my stryker. It's really funny though because I had always been terrified of motorcycles and never had any interest in them. We've had much needed rain for the last week and I'm in withdrawal because I haven't been able to ride at all for a week. I told him at supper tonight I'm riding next week come rain, sleet, hail or snow.
