I am not bashing them just wondering why? Bikes are about feeling free we buy them to have fun go where the road takes you. You bought it to have fun not to worry about where you going and how you got their. Which leads me to another question why worry about fuel mileage you bought it for fun, if you are worried about this and that then you can not be having fun?

I here ya on the fuel Mileage Roger! I could care less if I was getting 20 mpg or 40 where and how I ride. A GPS maybe, but I'm not good at multitasking LOL.

How would you find your way back home from your free wheeling care free ride? ;)
Intuition my good man. either that or sooner or later you are bound to find a familiar road. Whats that old saying "all roads lead to home"

Bingo! I drive my car hard cause it's fun. I ride a 1300cc cruiser cause it's a beast.
If I gave a crap about fuel mileage, I'd buy a Vespa scooter.

However, I do get lost now and then, so a GPS is handy.

I throw it in along with my phone(although its gps can be picky) when I'm on newer routes.
As others who have ridden with me know, I get turned around easier than most folks! My old boss said I was "South Side directionally challenged". For those of you not from Chicago that means I really only do well on roads that are 90 degrees from one another and are numbered. Almost impossible to get lost there once you know the 2 dividing streets...
When I moved to the Burbs at 19 my little world was shattered and back then there was no GPS, internet or smartphones. Needless to say I got lost a lot :-\

Most rides are just for fun but even on those you still usually need to be somewhere around X time and a GPS can help there a lot if a road is under construction or has an accident etc. Probably getting the handlebar mount this coming spring to make things easier.

Being concerned with gas mileage, price of gas and locations of stations is understandable when traveling long distances and out on the road for weeks at a time. GPS comes in handy to help navigate through unfamiliar cities San Francisco, or plotting your path from station to station on long trips. I don't have a GPS on my bikes but we have had to use our phones for that purpose. Being on a bike isn't like being in a car where you can open a map and travel 3 to 400 miles between fill ups.
As far as worrying about the actual mpg that you get, every bit helps.
