So my wife and I and two other guys are riding down the highway minding our own business and enjoy the nice weather we are having today, when out of the blue some asshole dude on a ninja tries blowing off my left hand mirror at well over 100+ mph as he swerves over in front of us. Needless to say I did not see this dude till he passes me. It scared the **** out of all four of us. We tried to chase him down but lost him. Prob bout five miles down the road he turned back out on te highway in front of us pulling and riding a wheelie for bout a quarter of a mile then takes off again. The whole time he had his front tire in the air I was hoping a gust of wind would blow him over, cause if it did I would pull up beside him and told him he was a jackass then drive off.

I know many if you all are still sport bike owners an riders and I apologize for my comments. But I have no respect for asshole sport bike riders that do that ****.

I feel you. I myself ride own a sport bike along with the Stryker and I find myself shaking my head at those guys. They give the rest of us a bad name. But at the same time I was on my way to work the other morning and a guy on a cruiser was doing the same. Weaving in and out of cars recklessly and speeding unnecessarily. My point is, it doesn't matter what's being ridden, there are people out there who act dumb and make the rest of us look bad and give us a bad rep.

Just remember its not the bike it the rider. I'm sure there are even a few assholes out there that ride Stryker's I know I wasn't tested to see how much of an asshole I was when I bought mine. Also remember riders like that take care of the problem by them self and all you can do is hope they don't take someone else with them.

From his perspective I’m sure you were just a tree in the woods that he went around. Can piss you off if you don’t see it coming and it rattles you cage, but this kind of thing is very comon on the race track when you lap a slower rider in practice etc.. and unfortunatly some of these riders get real worked up when they start riding fast on the street. He should have backed it down before blowing by you.

Yep, but I've had this happen with crotch rockets, cruisers, canams, sports cars, pickup trucks, etc....., it's not the vehicle, it's the asshole in control, I've got some friends I ride with that ride crotch rockets and I've never seen them put somebody else in peril

this dude intentionally did it cause our handle bars could of touched he got so close. Then he had the audacity turn back in front of us further down the road and show off more. I have plenty of friends that ride sport bikes, **** I used to ride them, and this is one of the reasons i quit riding them. I just dont get the point as to why assholes like this gotta do that dumb ****. I mean **** if they got a death wish **** go do it somewhere else where it dont endanger other people.

A few states have anti-wheelie laws coming online in January (my state Florida is one), some make it a pretty severe penalty for getting caught. Worse, your insurance company will have a field day with your premiums $$$$ wise. A friend of mine in the insurance biz sez some companies are salivating at the prospect of jumping the premiums for such behavior. Recent Motorcyclist magazine has an article about states eventually requiring an anti-wheelie device on your bike. I'll see if I can find that issue and post more here.

AMA site may have info as well.

Sport bikes are a blast to ride, but wheelie's on public roads is just plain stupid. Unfortunately, ALL motorcyclists may have to pay a price in the future for this stupid behavior now.

Stepping down from soap box now . . . . .

Yeah, this is not a good thing and I, too, would have been offended and scared by this type of behavior. I have only had a sportsbike blow by me one time and I was in my truck doing about 60 mph. I had no idea he was anywhere near me till I saw the blur on the road beside me. Took me a few moments to realize just what had happened. Maybe it's not just the rider though. I've never been harassed by a rider on a Vespa. HaHa
