Went out for a short ride today on my 2011 stryker with 550 miles on it. I had been about 5 miles when I approached an intersection and went to make a left turn. As I accelerated through 1st gear the bike studdered a couple times and then leveled out. I shifted to second and accelerated and the bike completely lost power. I pulled into a gas station and the bike cut off on its own. At first I thought low fuel...but my fuel light hadn't come on. I topped off the fuel tank anyway and tried to fire it up. It ran for a few seconds and shut off. I tried this multiple times and then it quit firing up all together. I just installed my Cobra swept exhaust and Power Commander V before this ride. I downloaded the Map for the cobra pipes and the aftermarket air intake(which I do not have).

I pulled the seat off and made sure the ground wire coming from the PCV was on tight. I checked all the connectors that I could reach and made sure they were all clicked together. After all this it would still only run for a few seconds. If I tried to give it any gas it would shut off also. I am at a loss of what is wrong with my bike. Could something have gone wrong since I don't have the aftermarket air intake? I have the stryker shop manual but it gives no advice on this problem. Any advice or ideas of what yall think could be the issue would be greatly appreciated.

If the motor suddenly stopped it can be in-between intake/exhaust valve cycles and have pressure built up. That's what makes it harder to turn over. I think the moment is right before a spark should have occurred. Moving the bike a little seems to relieve the pressure and make the bike start from what I've read. I also think that just a few attempts at starting would have cured my issue as well since it would have cycled. Slowly at first and then normally.

This is a quote from Billy, I believe. Either way, I did not write it, but thought this may help you!! :)

Check the wire gong to the coils... especially the right side coil... mine came off and did exactly the same thing...

Yes I installed everything myself but this is the second ride on the new upgrades....it did awesome on the 1st ride. The second reply doesn't apply to my problem because my bike turns over and cranks without a problem but it will only run for a couple of seconds. Thanks for the info on the coil wire. I have been reading on here and it looks like the coil wires and spark plug wires are a common problem. I have also seen where people have bought PCV's that are faulty. I will check it out tomorrow and post what the problem was....if I figure it out.

Since you did the work yourself I'd just disconnect it and go back to stock and see how things run. I know the one plug is a bear to get to but going through this process will let you know 100% if the mod is at fault. You also might notice that something is loose along the way.

Don't have a tuner yet so cannot comment on the map being at fault or not.

Since it ran fine the first ride I'm leaning towards a lose connection or the outside chance of a failed component. I'm assuming if the map was incorrect it would have run/not run right from the beginning.

You said all the connections were "clicked" together. Which I would believe you used "vampire clips". They may be fast connections but not the best. If it continues to happen, pull clips and make permanent connections.

I figured it out. I started pulling the tank off to check all the connectors. When I lifted the tank I found that I had never turned the fuel valve back on after the mods. I am still amazed that I rode it around before with the fuel off and it ran fine. Oh well....easy fix.

That's because the Stryker's reserve tank is under the seat. The main feeds it. There's about enough in there to go 10-15 miles safely and some have gotten 20+ but I'm guessing they had to be on fumes at that point.
Again glad it was nothing involved. Riding is fun, troubleshooting isn't.
