Well although the Sun is shining and it's expected to be in the 50's this weekend. I'm officially in winterization mode mentally :)

So with that I need to buy a Battery Tender, but for the life of me, I have no idea what to buy... Is the below linked item a good one to get?
http://www.amazon.com/TECMATE-OPTIM...4&keywords=battery+tender+motorcycle+Optimate

Is there anything else I should be looking to do? I assume fill tank up, toss in some stabil, and remove battery, put on wood work bench and let trickle all winter.

Thanks for any info.

I'm just plugging in my gloves and putting on a thermal so my nipples don't tear holes in my shirt.

If you tell yourself that 5* really isn't that cold, you might start believing it. Works for me.

Your plan is OK though. Maybe get the tires off the ground.

That's the one the dealer carried and recommended. Used it twice so far and worked fine. Deep-sixed the battery once and came back fine. No need to remove battery from bike if you can keep the charger plugged in. I'd also cover it up with a sheet or the like to keep all the dust off.

Same one I use....I used the ring connectors to permanently attach it to the battery and the plug sticks out just behind the seat.....no need to take the battery out to put on charger.
I USE ONE VERY SIMILAR. I have mine permenetly hooked to my battery and the end plug tucked undernieth. When I have the bike sitting for awhile I plug in the tender. Can't overcharge because when it has a full charge it goes to storage mode.

Stabil, fill till rim. If storing on concrete, place on carpet to prevent moisture. Cover bike and throw mothballs under your bike. It helps keep the little critters from playing under the bike. My traps get full over the winter and this helps keep the free ones out. If it is stored on a jack, keep your kick stand in the down position in case the lift lets go over the winter.

Most important thing is to PRAY FOR A EARLY SPRING ;D

I'd put it on a center stand if you have one...that will prevent the possibility of flat spots developing on your tires. I know some guys like to change the oil right before they let the bike sit over a long period of time.
