Yesterday I rode my Stryker over to one of the Yamaha dealers in my area. This was not the dealer where I purchased my bike. I wanted to purchase an extra key to keep in my wallet. Anyway, I walked in and first checked out the new bikes. There were many sport bikes and a few cruisers including Honda Shadow, Yamaha 1300 and Honda Sabre. Maybe a Suzuki but no Strykers or Raiders. I was the only customer in the store and didn't see a salesperson the whole time I was there. I went to the parts counter where the parts guy was talking to a mechanic. When I asked if they had a key blank for a Stryker both guys said, "What is a Stryker?" I told them it is the new Yamaha 1300cc bike similiar to the Raider. They said, "Oh, Oh yeah." The mechanic then added that he didn't ride bikes, he just fixed them. He said he got his fix for speed with his Bass boat. Well, the key blank was about $13.50. Wow! $13.50 just for a darn key blank. I passed. I think I'll take my business elsewhere.

The price doesn't surprise me, I don't agree with it, but doesn't surprise me. The dealership reminds me of the HD place in my area. Beautiful building, but no one even comes out to talk with you. One of the many reasons I went with Yamaha!!

That dealer probably will go out of business soon with people like that working for them. My dealer wanted to charge me $30 per key and wait for 2 weeks for it to deliver-lost their minds. I went to my local lock smith Liberty Lock and Key and had 2 extras made for $5 total.

Everything "motorcycle" is expensive compared to cars. Boats too. I presume it's because they're not mass produced like cars. Yeah, it's an expexsive hobby but I consider it essential to my happiness on this earth.
