I ordered the 6" backrest when I bought the bike May 1st. Have everything but the pad, which has been on back order for two months now. Does anyone have a pad, or know of an aftermarket pad that will fit the OEM backrest? I'll buy that instead and tell Yamaha to stuff their pad where the sushi don't shine

I have the wide Mustang pad on my tall quick release and wife loves it. Just order the mustang pad for the oem backrest.

That's about the same price I paid for the OEM one. Should've done that in the first place. Thanks!
Same here, It took me 3 different pads to finally get it right. Although when I bought bike in 12/2010, all there was available was the oem Star pad.

...and I actually like the look of the mustang pad over OEM. When I get it, I'll have to take new pics. Most of the ones I have (if not all) in the album are shortly after I bought it.

Appreciate all the input :)

Edit: When I bought the bike, I ordered the back rest. Dealer told me it was on back order then, but said nothing else bolted up to the OEM bracket except the OEM pad. It was all "proprietary". Guess I have have one of "those" dealers. Glad I'm a DIYer...would hate to have to rely on that kind of advice :(

UPDATE:

So I went to the dealer this past Saturday and asked him about the status on the OEM pad. He said call back on Tuesday (today). So i called today at 5:30pm, and I get "Hold on a minute, I'll have another guy check on it (after about a 5 minute hold)..uh...we have a new date, Yamaha said we should have it first week of August".

I told him, "That's ridiculous, it's already been on BO for 2 months. Cancel the order and get me the Mustang pad." I gave him the part# JesterAZ was so kind to post here, and the parts guy is like "Can I call you back, because we don't deal with Mustang, so I have to get a cross reference...blah bladdity blah". So about 15 minutes later I get a call. It will be here in .....(wait for it).... three days :)

The OEM pad cost $85ish the Mustang pad was $99, so they want me to pay the difference, and I almost was going to give them some crap about the BO wait(it was part of the deal when I bought the bike) ...but I figured I just want my pad, and it wasn't really their fault for the BO so.....hopefully this weekend I can FINALLY put a backrest on. Which is kind of a bummer, because without one, my girlfriend holds on tighter :)

for future reference - when you are looking for parts / upgrades / mods - contact Jordan Babbitts - from babbittsonline.com - he is a forum member and stryker owner and gives us great deals.. and super fast shipping. I get 95% of my stuff from him, he is awesome to deal with. Email him @ ---- [email protected]

He will give you a quote on what you want - so its easy to compare prices, and he'll tell ya straight up if he can't get it. If he can get it, he has always beat or at the very least matched prices* with the lowest I've ever found anywhere else on the web.

*or he'll do his best, if he's even close to what the lowest is, I'll still throw buisness his way because of all the money he's saved me from all the other purchases I've made.

I just ordered my OEM backrest, luggage rack & pad on Saturday from my dealer. The package deal was $375. The pad was $60. I asked the parts guy about the pad being on a national back order. He showed everything in stock including the pad.
I'm wondering if there are regional distribution centers. Maybe they are available in different areas of the country. Or am I going to be contacted later in the week and told that everything but the pad is in.

Might be a possibility. Let me know what happens. I'm starting to think they <my dealer> marks up their part prices a bit (or it may be regional also..because he showed me the pricing in the catalogue)

. When I was ordering my 30T pulley, they quoted me $268.00 and at least two weeks to ship. I ordered it from yamahaparts.com (which I found later was Babbittsonline, however I ordered before it was widely known about Jordan, and I ended up paying the normal warehouse price of $176.00- - - which was still a **** good price :thumb:...and got it that same week)
