Finally got an appointment Saturday to fix the gas leak problem on the V Star. After seeing a post on the V Star forums about gas all of a sudden gushing out all over the guys 1300 I called Yamaha. They said they got the parts in and to bring it in asap. After reading more of the posts found out guys have been fixing this problem them selves for a couple of years now. I Guess I will pray mine doesn't start leaking before the 60 miles I have to go tomorrow to get a new tire on it and the 100 miles to the dealer Saturday. ??? So any of you guys out there that have one of the bikes on recall beware.

Ya that was my question to because the Stryker has the 1304cc like the V Star but it been modded. Its not the same motor. It has bigger cam lift bigger intake and air box, Different fuel mapping and I assume different fuel injection where the problem on the other models are defective and leak. Besides the Stryker I have a V Star 950 that's on the list.

When I took delivery of my Stryker last Saturday, I rode my V Star 950 in and planned to leave it so the recall could be done. It was done before I left on the new Stryker. I plan to go pick up the 950 tomorrow. The Recall was primarily for the V Star 950. It also included the 2007 V Star 1300. Yamaha allows 45 minutes to do the fix.

I also have a 1300 V star and even though it was registered in late 2008, it is part of the recall. I found out by our club website www.vsoc.org.uk in the news section. As I am the third owner I had been missed by Yamaha. Worth a check of your vin number. :)

Yes it would be wise for everyone that owns a Yamaha to check the vin# to see if it's on the list. Especially if you are not the first owner or bought your bike from some where other than a dealer. As the paper trial might not have caught up to you yet. I believe 2007 is the earliest and all the way to some 2012 models. I am not sure if they put the defective part on models with carburetors so I would check it out.
