Has anyone bought one of these and installed it? I bought one online and it arrived today. Am I looking at this thing correctly? Does Yamaha really expect me to put velcro tape on my tank? No where on any website, not even Yamaha's, did I find mention that it VELCRO'S to my tank. I don't think I'm very happy about this idea. Any thoughts?

Doesn't it attach to the fuel inlet?

On a suzuki m109r I owned the tank cover was attached to the bolt holding down the instrument on the tank

I was thinking of getting this for my Stryker but if it is only installed using valcro then it is a no go for me for sure

Attached image to explain what I mean
The red is a stryker which seems really that nothing is holding it to the tank
While the black is the bouli showing it attached to the bolt on the tank

Got it on my bike. The velcro goes on under the tank just like the instructions that came with it. The black velcro is almost unnoticable under my black tank. I shortened mine up though and just resewed it. I guess you could call it a Mini mINI

The one you posted for the M109 looks exactly like the one my hubby has on his C109. One of the few things I guess that work between the C and the M. I'm just not too thrilled with the idea of velcro only. Hubby wonders if it actually goes under the tank. I don't want to take it out of the package in case it doesn't and I can get the store to take it back.

I haven't opened the package, trying to get it returned - do you take the tank off and put the velcro underneath the tank or does it go on the sides? I just don't think I am going to like this at all.

Thanks in advance!

Yes it does velcro onto the tank, but the velcro that sticks onto the tank, you cannot see it unless you get onto your knees and look up under the tank. I have one on and I don't even know that it's held on with velcro until you remove the mini bib. Also it has never moved or come off until I have removed it.

So if I want to ride without the bib on one day, it sounds like the velcro would show. Definitely not interested in that because I might not want it on all the time. Is there a for sale section on here, in case I can't them to take it back? Very disappointing to pay that kind of money for something so not what I wanted.

Yes there is a classified section, but just as a thought, you could stick the adhesive side onto a flexible magnetic strip that would stick onto the tank, but be removable. You may find the magnetic material at a craft shop, or possibly at a sign shop, as there use the same stuff for magnetic signs.

As long as the tank is clean, should not be a problem. On the other side, you really cannot see the velcro as it is on the bottom of the tank. But the only time I take mine off is when I clean the bike,as the reason that I got it was to protect the tank from my legs rubbing on the tank.

They make magnetic tank bags that have protective soft cloth over the magnet that cost upward from $30 to$200. I don't think they would be able to sale such a product if it scratch the tank. Don't know anyone that has used one on a new paint job though to verify that they don't scratch. Just for example. Maybe you can find someone who has yous a magnetic product that knows.

with magnets, you just have to be very careful with any debris on the surface
and wipe the magnets off everytime you reapply. I have a magnetic tailbag
I use all the time and it is a practice to wipe each magnet before sticking them
close to the fender.

I don't get your beef. As several posters have mentioned, the velcro goes UNDER the tank and does not show. What's the problem with that? What did you think would be holding it on the tank....magic?
Lmfao..... Sorry but that was funny....if you are still stuck on getting rid of it I would be interested

I was thinking of making my own a bit like this. As I sit almost on the tank, my legs get cold next to the metal. May have a go now I know how to fix it on.

I used a tank bag with magnet on my brand new stryker for a long trip from Newfoundland to Gaspé. The bag didn't left any traces whatsoever. LIke others said though, gotta keep the tank clean and well fixed to the bike.

On a side note, magnet are great at holding the bag but heavy winds and a few trailers backdraft requires more to hold anything in place!

Hope it helps!
