The evil stray cat of my apt complex sat on my bike and scratched up my tank. I'll spend my day off buffing it out, figure while I'm at it I'll remove the gas tank trim too.

Everyone tells me cover it, but being a daily driver, that would be a pain. Esp since I come home after midnight and don't want to fumble in the dark with a full cover. I found this half cover and wonder if it would be any easier to put on/take off. Has anyone used this w/ the stryker or know if it fits over a short backrest and windshield?

Yes have it and it fits over the tall backrest, luggage rack and boulevard windshield.
NOTE: I use it for winter storage in my garage and had to put a section of hot water pipe heat wrap(3/4" stuff from HD; black w/ a slit) around the luggage rack since I was worried that the point would put a hole in the cover otherwise. I tied mine on w/ string but you'd have to devise a better/quicker approach...

That sucks! The wife has two cats and to say "evil cat" is redundant. Unfortunately if you are coming home that late at night it's probably attracted to the warm engine being a stray Once you decide on a cover this is just a thought. You may want to spray it with this anti scratch spray they make to keep cats from scratching the furniture. I think they hate the odor or something. This way he won't be tempted to sit on a warmed up bed you just made for him.

And so you know, cats are great for figuring out how to get under bike covers too- had the same problem when I lived in an apartment- good luck!
True. I have cats and the smaller the space the more determined they are to fit in there :)
No kidding, Brought home the brand new bike and the second day I had it there were cat prints on the seat and on the right side of engine.
They LOVE wriggling under the covers so I doubt your half cover will make a difference.
I did find a sure fire cure and it doesn't involve bloodshed...
CATS HATE MOTHBALLS and moth "Crystals"
My wife gave up a few pair of old panty hose, filled the toes with the crystals and tied a knot... We tied a couple together and just drape them over the bike so they hang a few inches from the ground and the cats avoid it like the plague.
have not had ONE print or hair on the bike since and it's been over a month now.

I should get a Nobel peace prize for this!

You all make a good point...I'm only going to provide Satan shade and a better place to hide. Plus I'll be out $85. A friend mentioned that anti scratch stuff too, maybe I could spray some on the seat. And moth balls...that sounds very interesting to try. Cheaper alternatives for sure.

If you end up wanting to get that cover I have brand new one $69.00

I'd rather just kill the cat and leave the head to warn the others...
That would be my neighbor's opinion after the local outdoor cat visited his dogs at 2:00AM. He gets up for work at 4:00 so he was not pleased especially when the cat came back!

Now this is a super friendly cat that my kids love and he probably visits our cats as well in the middle of the night but they don't make nearly the noise dogs do when disturbed :)
I also love him since my chipmunk population/problem has seriously declined since he started hanging around. He comes up on the main and pool decks and is friendly beyond belief. He did terminate a few of the birds I like so we had to have a talk there. I said my peace and he replied something to the like of "I'm a scorpion what did you expect...?"
