Just curious to see if anyone on here has ever had a bike stolen or know someone that has I haven't and just want to here some stories on things like where you was parked and what you think could of prevented it. My two bikes both have alarms and I use a disc lock on both. Share some experiences so everyone will know what to avoid.

Yes. My pride and joy at the time, mid 70s. 1971 Honda CB 350 Custom chopped and painted it myself and built the engine full race cam bored 3 sizes over, 12.5 .1 pistons, larger valves and ports, cut the timing plate to advance the timing, changed the sprockets and clutch plates and two cycle carbs with velocity stacks to feed it the gas that it needed.
Unmistakeable one of a kind look. Why any one would steel it was beyond me. But they did.
One beautiful Sunday morning in sunny southern California I woke up and thought I would wax her up and go for a ride. Always parked my bike at night in the back yard by the porch. A long driveway through a gate. Looked out and WTF it was gone. Then about a week later my brother in law comes running in the door yelling YOUR BIKE JUST WENT BY!
So we jump in hes car and go zooming down the hill and to my surprise he was stop strapping something on the sissy bar. I said if he tries to run, run him over. Slide sideways jumped out of the car grabbed him in a arm bar told him he was on my bike that was stolen and I was going to kill him. Shoved his head down and told him to read the name stamped on the bottom of the heads and branded his face on the exhaust pipe.
Well it turns out that he was in the navy and said he bought it for a hundred dollars. So I took him up the hill to a cop and rode off on my bike. I thought by a week it would have been striped and sold for parts. But nothing had been changed.
Because he drove by my house and stopped down the hill he either was telling the truth or thought he could get out of the navy if he got caught. If he was telling the truth the neighbor kid that new my dog probably stole it.

I came home from a weeklong trip out of town with the Mrs to find somebody got in our garage and relieved us of 3 four wheelers and 2 dirt bikes, that's why I carry a -0- deductible on my homeowners and update my policy regularly, I didn't lose a dime

I would have to say that the guy was lying who in there right mind would buy a custom bike for acouple hundred bucks and not believe the bike is stolen. Glad you got it back

I had a anniversary edition R6 that was stolen off base in Whidbey Island. I called the cops and filed a report and they said that they would look for it. I doubt they did. About a year later I was driving around Oak Harbor and saw an anniversary R6 so I thought I would stop and look. Sure enough, it was my bike! I had put an aftermarket horn under the front fairing so I knew it was mine. It was beat to ****, it looked like it had been down a few times. I called the cops and they told me to leave while they went in to this bar to find the person. No idea what the outcome was, I already had the insurance money so it wasn't my bike anymore. I miss that bike though, it was a lot of fun.

I had a 1977 Sportster, unfortunately the AMF years (San Antonio, TX). Leaked oil bad and even burned a hole in the rear cylinder one time. Rode like a tank, but was a "HD"!
I was young and didn't have an inside place to keep it, so I used a big chain and a cover. Always parked it on my porch (duplex) and one night I came home late from heavy partying and didn't lock it up, just covered it - bingo, the next AM it was gone and the cover too.
That was one of the reasons I didn't want a HD anymore. Everywhere I went it seemed someone was always trying to steal it. I even chained it down to rods that were in concrete one time and came back out side later and it was laying over, they tried to get it but the chain stopped them that time.
I don't miss having to constantly watch for thieves, they don't know how good these metric bikes are, so the chances are allot less.
