Thought it would be Cool for everyone to share their first road bike experience. My first Road bike was a Brand new 1974 Harley Z90. Topped out at 57 mph. I bought it with the money I had saved from working on the Farm. I was only 14 at the time. I will post a pic when I scan picture to send from work.

When I was in the 6th grade (way too big to ride a big wheel), my friends and I found one in a parking lot where one side of the handlebars was missing. So we tied it to our bikes with a long rope and would build up speed and then pull on the single handle bar and yank on the brake and go skidding out of control. It was a blast! Only having half the handle bar made it a lot harder to steer, so it was a bit of a test of skill.

Oh and it was missing the seat too. It had to. We were all too big to fit otherwise and we'd have to cross our legs or kneel so they didn't hang off the sides.

Gee what started as a bit of a joke really hit others memories :) I remember that after a period of time of using the brake and to much skidding, the front wheel would develope a flat spot. Then it would feel like you had a block of wood for a front wheel.

And I do remember the green machine. I think I was a little to old by the time that came out to fit in it. ::)

Hey Deja- did you like the footboards? I have been thinking it would be more comfy for my legs and feet, but havent actually ridden a bike with them on.
