Throttle housing moves freely

The throttle housing (clamshell) / tube will move freely vertically and horizontally when I pull / push the throttle during use. I believe the little plastic pin is MIA.

I've heard you can use some tape underneath to help it grip the bars better?

Any other suggestions for our bike in this situation? I'd rather not buy a new housing because of a little piece of plastic?

By the housing I mean the clamshell that encases the cables with the kill switch on it.

If I roll full on or off the throttle in either direction it will shift the entire thing up or down the bars. It's not throttle free play though.

It seems there are little plastic pins in housings that keep it from doing this on some bars, people who swap bars sometimes have to drill holes in new bars for the pins?

Oh ok. Sorry I was still half asleep when I read this.... I've only had that off once to put new grips on and honestly can't remember. has to be a home-ade fix.

Get a tune then you don't need to twist so hard! :)

There are some controls on ebay but i was looking at one and it was also sheared off. I had to drill a new hole in my new bars for mine. You might be able to run a screw or small bolt/nut thru the control into the alignment hole on the bar but i'm not sure how permanent/reliable that would be.

You should be able to apply some tape to the bar and than tighten the screw underneath to increase the tension on the bar..sometimes the screws underneath do come loose.. did on my Vstar1300 once.
